Thomas E. Cohn, Partner

For more than 25 years, Mr. Cohn has focused on investment real estate and has counseled clients on the planning, formation and growth of business entities. He concentrates on the purchase, sale and financing of commercial real estate, as well as mortgage lending on behalf of lenders and borrowers, secured financing and title issues. He frequently handles banking issues and workouts, real estate tax appeals, commercial leasing and environmental approvals. He also has extensive experience in counseling on the conversion of properties to condominiums and cooperatives and in commercial contract negotiations for the sale or purchase of businesses. His practice also focuses on Internal Revenue Code Section 1031 tax-deferred exchanges of real property.

 

Mr. Cohn has served as a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Special Civil Part Practice Committee and also on the New Jersey Supreme Court Task Force on Dispute Resolution. He was a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court, Committee on Special Civil Part from 1988-1999.

 

Mr. Cohn served as President of the Property Owners Association from 1987-1990. He is both a past president of the New Jersey Property Owners Association and a lifetime member of its Board.

 

Mr. Cohn earned his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1980 and his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the New Jersey Bar and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
